The problem
Police officers (and other front line workers) need access to mission critical information. Voice doesn't have the permanence for users to retain information like addresses. As a device that provides a mission critical network connection, what is the future role of radios?
Actions
Evolve radios to smart radios - with a touch screen - to provide mission critical information. The smart radio also forms a connection hub for other devices and sensors (Personal Area Network).
Results
Designed the purpose built user experience that is used for the complete smart radio product line. It is a complete new experience running on Android OS, optimized for gloved use, short attention spans and quick interaction. This effort established the design language for purpose-built devices, which became the basis for Motorola Solutions' overall design system.
